The Department of Mechanical Engineering, established in 1967, commenced its academic activities on November 2, 1977. As one of the oldest and most esteemed departments in the region, it has built a rich legacy of excellence over the years. From its inception, the department's primary objective has been to enhance students' academic and technical knowledge through cutting-edge technologies, innovative teaching-learning methods, and robust research initiatives. Throughout its illustrious journey, the department has consistently adapted to technological advancements and sustainability trends in mechanical engineering, supported by a dedicated faculty comprising highly qualified and experienced professionals across all specializations. The department’s curriculum undergoes regular updates with active input from industry experts, alumni, research organizations, and other key stakeholders. Both its UG and PG programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Programs offered include B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (4 years) and M.Tech. programs (2 years) in Thermal Engineering, Design and Manufacturing, CAD CAM and Automation, Materials and Manufacturing Technology, and Renewable Energy. The department also offers PhD degrees in various specialized fields of Mechanical Engineering.
